5 nail trends you should try this fall
Hello beautiful featured video
Over the seasons, our manicures too. Most people swap their usual summer neon lights for shades more suited to fall that complement the pumpkin spice and golden leaf season. While I’m not too happy with the colder months, I’m excited to indulge in the latest trends to help make the transition seamless.
When it comes to nail inspiration, stars like Lizzo, Beyonce, and Kerry Washington keep me up to date with trends. Recently, Lizzo was spied on with golden spikes with the word “shhhh” written on her middle finger. The look, while simple, made me want to grab an oversized sweater in anticipation of the vibrant fall hues that lie ahead.
There are some key nail trends that should be on your radar this fall. If you’re looking for some ideas to help turn your bright, bold manicures into something that matches the fall palette, you’ve come to the right place. Here are 5 ideas to take with you on your next visit to your nail technician.
1. Gold tips
With Lizzo’s golden advice in mind, I opted for a more abstract interpretation. Gold is the perfect transitional shade in the fall season. Keep it simple by doing a simple French trick, or exaggerate the look by adding a shape. Earlier this year, Beyonce sported a similar manicure with a gold finish. The look is clean, classy and full of personality.
Style blogger Derria swapped her colorful summer nails for something a little deeper. Her matte black and gold chrome nails are absolutely ready for apple picking season. We’ll be seeing a lot of chrome looks this fall. From metallic to iridescent, the eye-catching glitter look will give your nails all the drama they need to survive the season.
My favorite nail trend right now is ombre nails. Whether it’s a gradient from black to white, beige to brown, or yellow to red, the subtle color change offers a big change in style in a minimal way. Ombre is cool and all, but adding a matte finish takes this manicure to the next level. If you are feeling very festive, play your nail tech with matte and shiny finishes.
4. Summaries and matte graphics
Matte nails already provide a clean finish, but they are enhanced when an abstract or graphic design is at the base. Different prints on each finger might look random, but when done, they’ll make your nails look fun and cohesive. Atlanta-based nail technician Tahara broke up the mix of prints with a gold accent nail.
5. Animal print
Thanks to Ivy Park, you can expect to see a lot of cow print studs this fall. This season we’re bringing all the animals to the nail sketching table. From tiger stripes to brown and white cow spots, you can have the zoo depicted on your fingers. For example, style writer and blogger Joce Blake showcased her self-proclaimed ghetto nails during NYFW.
