“ Flipside French Twist ” manicure: The nail trend endorsed by Selena Gomez for sports in 2021
After the onslaught of nail art that swamped our Instagram feeds – and our numbers – it’s easy to see why the discovery of every new manicure trend can start to feel, well, outdated.
Enter: The Flipside French Twist, AKA the French Twist With A Flipside.
Whether you’re a fan of classic 2000s French manicure or prefer your beloved talisman-like number game, the French Twist With A Flipside trend is perfect for any occasion or decade.
On the underside of Gomez’s nails, Bachik opted for a ruby red, which many called a direct counterpart to the signature coloring of a Christian Louboutin stiletto.
Gomez sported the red-ground manicure with a dress she wore for her hospitality duties on Vax Live: the concert to bring the world together. The event, hosted by the international advocacy organization Global Citizen, brought together a plethora of special guests, including Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, and aimed to encourage global availability of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Some might prefer to let a professional manicurist handle their French Twist With A Flipside, but for those who prefer to DIY their own nails, don’t worry. Looking to nail Gomez’s look? All you need are three nail polish colors, a top coat, a thin nail art brush and some nail polish remover.
As for Bachik’s creation, the famous manicurist opted for a trio of OPI colors: Alpine Snow and Black Onyx for the French tip and Big Apple Red for the ruby underside.
For the French manicure, using a fine nail art brush, trace the natural line of the nails in Black Onyx then apply two even coats of Black Onyx on the nail from the line to the cuticle. After the base is completely dry, apply two even coats of Alpine Snow to the tips.
After drying, apply a coat of Big Red Apple on the underside of the nail. If your hands aren’t steady, consider using a nail art brush dipped in nail polish remover for the ultimate in precision – the longer the brush, the finer the detail – and to make sure no nail polish is missing. is also on the skin.
Once you’re done, apply a good dose of a top coat and voila, a French Twist with a Flipside manicure is ready to impress.
