Google celebrates the 20th anniversary of the International Space Station with AR walk-through

Google celebrates the 20th anniversary humans living on the International Space Station by creating a new 3D model of the ISS that people can explore in augmented reality. Google worked with NASA on the model and other features to mark the milestone.

The 3D model makes it possible “to bring the station back to Earth and undertake fascinating examinations of each module of the station in incredible detail,” said Simon Delacroix, head of the Google Arts & Culture program on Thursday. blog post.

To view it, go to artsandculture.google.com and seek ISS. To select 20 years on the ISS and scroll to Explore in 3D.

The tech giant is also releasing a multiplayer Puzzle Party that includes footage from NASA’s ISS archive. As you would with any puzzle, you piece together images such as the exterior of the space station or astronauts on spacewalks.

To play, go to artsandculture.google.com and seek Puzzle Party. To select Puzzle Party – NASA Edition from the top row, then click Start the experience.

Monday, November 2 marks the 20th anniversary of the arrival of the first permanent crew on the space station. Astronauts, cosmonauts and researchers have been there ever since.

Friday, October 30 at 8:10 a.m. PT, NASA astronaut Kate Rubins and cosmonauts Sergey Ryzhikov and Sergey Kud-Sverchkov discuss their current assignment aboard the ISS.
