‘OpenBH’ program extended until December 2021
BEVERLY HILLS – On May 4, Beverly Hills City Council unanimously approved the extension of the city’s dynamic “OpenBH” program until December 2021, allowing businesses to continue operating out of doors.
According to a press release from Laura Biery, head of marketing and economic sustainability for the City of Beverly Hills, established in June 2020, “ OpenBH ” is the Beverly Hills process for businesses to temporarily expand their services to adjacent areas such as parking lots and public right of way (sidewalks) through a special event permit. Businesses that can currently use “OpenBH” to expand their services outdoors include restaurants, gyms, salons, faith-based organizations, and retail stores.
“This program has been tremendously successful,” said Mayor Bob Wunderlich. “We tried something and people love it. The street energy that we have generated is wonderful. You feel good to see your family and friends outside and the vibrancy of our stores and restaurants. “
Tuesday’s decision extends the waiver of applicable fees and costs associated with participating in the program. For more details, including a list of “OpenBH” companies offering outdoor dining and services, visit www.beverlyhills.org/OpenBH.
