The reinvented 2nd Hy-Vee store opens its doors

After several months of construction, Hy-Vee’s highly anticipated location in Eau Claire, Wisconsin opened at 6 a.m. on September 28, marking the grocer’s fourth location in Badger State. , as well as its second “totally reinvented” grocery store, following the debut of the concept’s inaugural location, in Grimes, Iowa, earlier this month.
The approximately 92,000 square foot Eau Claire store will feature a large open Food Hall dining room for quick and casual meals, including Hy-Vee’s new breakfast menu; a pub with a full bar and outdoor patio; Take-out meals; Italian articles Mia and HyChi; Nori Sushi; Grilled Express Market; Long Island Deli; and a Wahlburgers at Hy-Vee.
The store also offers amenities Hy-Vee is known for, including a full-service bakery with artisan and specialty breads, pastry shop, cakes, and a cake decorating station; a full-service delicatessen with meats and shavings, specialty cheeses and cold cuts; a full-service meat counter with a chef’s station, a case of dry-aged steaks, a Chophouse and packaged meats; a full-service seafood counter with sustainable seafood options; an expanded HealthMarket offering a greater choice of vitamins and sports nutrition options; a large area of ââfresh produce; Starbucks coffee; a larger flower and gift shop; and a pharmacy with an access road by car.
Other offerings include DSW shoes and accessories; Joe Cool clothing; The W nail bar; a kiosk of pairs of glasses; a Johnson Fitness & Wellness showroom; a beauty department; and an expanded Candy Shoppe section with premium, novelty and nostalgic items. This location is also home to a Hy-Vee Wine & Spirits department with a walk-in beer cooler, walk-in humidifier, and walk-in wine cellar.
Technology and equipment for the new store include electronic shelf labels and more than 100 TVs for digital marketing. Digital kiosks have also been set up to order fresh cakes and ready meals, and Midwest Heritage banking services are available. The store will offer Scan and Go payment capability, as well as self-checkout options for a contactless shopping experience. Guests can also use Hy-Vee Aisles online grocery pickup and delivery service, guest services, a mother’s room, and money transfers.
Store hours are 5 a.m. to midnight daily and the location will carry approximately 100,000 items, including over 10,000 specialty items, over 5,000 HealthMarket items and over 1,500 fresh produce (including over of 100 organic articles).
A Hy-Vee Fast and Fresh convenience store that opened earlier this year offers fresh take-out, a Market Grille Express, and a selection of staples such as fresh produce and fresh baked goods. The c-store is open from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m., seven days a week.
According to Hy-Vee, he has invested more than $ 27 million in the community to build, furnish and stock the grocery store. The new store also provided 550 local jobs, including 125 full-time positions.
