Upcoming nail bar and beauty salon in Chelmsford Bond Street
A nail bar and beauty salon have been given the green light to open in the Bond Street boutique that was left vacant when Accessorize closed.
Monsoon Accessorize closed 35 stores last year, including its boutique in the Chelmsford Mall, after it took office.
This meant that the store had not reopened after the first lockdown.
The Dubai-based NBAR brand has now received approval to open in the shopping complex.
Bond Street owner Aquila told planners the brand has 20 locations around the world and hopes to add Chelmsford to the list.
The planning document read: “It is expected that the unit will trade under the name ‘NBAR’ and be operated by a franchisee of this company.
“Launched in 2001, NBAR is a Dubai-based operator that offers a wide range of treatments, including manicures, pedicures, waxing, threading and massages, in a high quality environment.”

Planners from Chelmsford City Council have given the green light to change-of-use plans.
A Chelmsford BID supported the change in use request and said it was “positive news that businesses are choosing Chelmsford to open businesses in the city center”.
No comments were submitted by residents.
The planning agent’s report said: “The proposed nail bar and beauty salon would provide a new use for a currently vacant unit and provide a service that would be directly compatible with and complement the retail and retail offerings. existing leisure activities within Bond Street and the wider shopping center.
“The proposed change in use would bring a new business to the downtown area that would support the existing business function of the main shopping area and provide positive new use for a currently vacant unit.
“It would have no negative impact on the commercial function of the city center or on the character and appearance of the surrounding area.”
